Hi! I'm Sam Ryan, a freelance writer and editor based in Melbourne, Australia.
A little about me ...
After completing a Bachelor of Arts (Communications & Media and Politics) and a Postgraduate Diploma of Journalism, I got my first job at CPA Australia in 2006, editing and publishing website content. Since then, I've worked for Manningham City Council, the National Heart Foundation and Victoria University, writing content for websites, media releases, major publications, speeches and many more things.
In 2012 I decided to give part-time freelancing a try. And I enjoyed it - a lot. I'm currently working part-time for Victoria University and freelancing part-time. It's a good mix.
I'm also involved with the non-profit human rights media organisation, Right Now. I was part of the editorial team as Reviews Editor from 2012-2014, continue to write articles and am involved in their website redesign project.
When I need a mental break I literally run away from the computer - and then back towards it - usually via the Tan track. Music inspires me and yoga soothes my mind. I also like people and spending time in their company. And, of course, words - writing them, deleting them and moving them about.
Have a look around the website, you'll find a selection of articles, web projects and publications I have worked on as a freelancer and in my professional roles.
